About Us
Stacey Porter
Stacey Porter (she/her) is the head trainer at SP Dressage. She has received her USDF bronze and silver medals and participated in the USDF L Program.
Stacey began riding in the hunters as a child, then moved to eventing in her early teens where she showed her wonder pony, Ali, through training level eventing. Even as an eventer, Stacey always had a dressage trainer who created a strong base for her riding. As she progressed she fell in love with dressage and pursued it, being a working student for trainers such as Natalie Lamping, Fatima Kranz, and Gunnar Østergaard.
Always looking to broaden her knowledge base Stacey has ridden with several world renowned clinicians, including Uwe Steiner, Cathy Connely, Conrad Schumacher, Laura Graves, and Lisa Wilcox. She loves bringing what she’s learned to her students to help them improve their riding and enhance their performance in whatever their key discipline is. Not only does Stacey enjoy going to clinics, she has taken what she has learned to propel herself, and her students, to successfully compete at local, regional, and national horse shows through Prix St Georges.
On top of her extensive dressage training, Stacey is a human LMT, giving her a more in depth understanding of how a riders body can work to improve their riding.

Stacey's Philosophy
Stacey believes that dressage training can help riders in every discipline. Whether you are a hunter, an eventer, a jumper, or a true dressage enthusiast, Stacey can help you reach your riding goals by establishing a solid dressage foundation.
Alexandria Porter
Alexandria (she/her) has been around horses and dressage her entire life. Being “the trainer's kid,” she was on a horse before she could walk, always choosing dressage over other sports.

Over the years, Alexandria has ridden with world-renowned trainers, including Conrad Schumacher, and audited other clinicians, such as Uwe Steiner, Kathy Connely, and Gunnar Østergaard. In 2010, at 14 years old, she was the USDF Region 4 Dressage Seat Equitation Semi-Finals 14-18 Year-Old Champion and went on to receive 6th Place at the national finals. She received her USDF bronze medal at 17 and has shown successfully at local, regional, and national horse shows through third level.

After high school, Alexandria continued riding but choose to focus on her studies. She attended Drake University where she had the opportunity to partake in multiple conferences presenting and editing original works on gender and law. She successfully completed her honors thesis, graduating early and with honors in 2017.

Alexandria continues to further her dressage education today by working with Stacey Porter, aka Mom, as Stacey’s assistant trainer.

aLEXANDRIA'S PHILOSOPHY
Alex, like Stacey, is a firm believer that dressage can be used to help improve riders from every discipline with their goals. She doesn't have a "cookie cutter" goal for horses and riders, she uses the fundamentals of dressage to bring out the full potential in every pair.
